Welcome to Object magazine issue 61.

In February 2011, Object: Australian Design Centre broke new ground by becoming the first arts organisation in Australia to publish a magazine as an iPad app, launching issue 60 with a focus on ceramics. In our second digital issue, we shift our focus on the somewhat intangible world of Design Thinking.

Issue 61 features prominent design industry figures discussing ‘The Power of Design’ in an article on Designing for Business, while local and international case studies illustrate what Designing for Social Innovation is all about. Four modes of Design Thinking in Education are explored, alongside a look into the UTS Design Camp on Cockatoo Island, an immersive educational experience for first year students of the UTS Design School.

We also take a look back at Annual Manual: Australian Design Now, Object’s annual design graduate exhibition, and take a behind the scenes of our Winter blockbuster Now And When, talking to co-curators Ivan Rijavec and John Gollings, as well as architectural renderer Daniel Flood. Plus we review Women With Clever Hands in Adelaide and Vivid Creative Sydney, among other exciting stories, videos and articles.

Dont forget to download the launch digital issue of Object magazine by searching Object magazine 60 in the App Store.
